Here’s the thing about white/grey hair: people aren’t usually bothered by the grey, they’re bothered by the lack of dimension, shine, brightness. For this new guest, we just added some “pepper to her salt” with hand painted lowlights for a modern and blended result, and added a treatment to brighten up her white. Super exhausted from the weekend in Rosemont (outside of Chicago) at #americasbeautyshow . Hair/beauty shows are sensory overload and a bit of chaos - but that’s what happens when you get a ton of creative business people together. I took seven classes (hair loss, scalp health, curly cutting, texture coloring, grey blending/transformation, etc), and spend my “downtime” on the showroom floor perusing new tools and products. So much music and color and creative expression and extroverted people *cries in introvert*! Super shoutout to @tippishorter for teaching an awesome curly cut class and for recommending great shears and education. January 3 marked the beginning of my 2nd year of being singularly focused in the salon industry (although I have been in this industry for 11yrs, just always with another career). Moving away from higher education/student affairs (sorta - I do some light consulting) has been such a scary leap but VERY good for me in ways that I didn’t see coming. Year 1 as a Senior Colorist/Stylist and Success Leader was pretty rewarding, so I’m looking forward to a healthy year 2.

Also I spent entirely too much time trying to decide which Jordans to wear for this shoot.
